Magnus Nygren is a music journalist currently working on an extensive biography of Don Cherry.
He co-edited the book Organic Music Societies (Blank Forms), which focuses on the collaboration between Don and Moki Cherry during the 1970s. He has written liner notes for several albums by Don Cherry.
Between 2015 and 2022, he was the editor for the magazine OrkesterJournalen/Jazz and writes for international magazines such as We Jazz Magazine and The Wire. He has previously been a critic for Svenska Dagbladet.
