FRIM presenterar en duo med två av den europeiska improvisationsmusikens främsta musiker i Fylkingens nya lokaler i Bredäng den 20 november.

FRIM presents a duo with two of the most distinguished musicians on the European improvised scene in the new whereabouts of Fylkingen in Bredäng on November 20th.

John Butcher – soprano and tenor saxophone
Ståle Liavik Solberg – drums & percussion

Over the last 7 years John Butcher and Ståle Liavik Solberg have been developing two parallel projects; their intimate duo music and trio collaborations with a wide range of  partners - Agnes Hvizdalek, Nick Stephens, Pat Thomas, Kaja Draksler and Barre Phillips.

The quartet STRAY with Dominic Lash and John Russell (on electric guitar) has released “Into Darkness" and a quintet adding Joe McPhee, Pascal Niggenkamper and Agnes Hvizdalek played the Kongsberg Jazz Festival.

They also have a quartet with Sophie Agnel and Pascal Niggenkemper that toured in Norway in 2022 and played this years Artacts festival in St Johann.

"Two high-class musicians talk to each other.. Butcher handles his saxes with enormous knowledge and Ståle Liavik his coordinated and «dry» drums with a wide register. The music lacks the anger that you can hear from many of Butcher and Ståle Liavik's colleagues. But who said you should be angry, especially on a record with this poetic name."Salt Peanuts - Lars Grip.
